Apply for Food Systems Summer School with N8 Agrifood

As part of the strategic partnership, N8 Agrifood is working with IFSTAL to organise a unique international Food Systems Summer School at the University of Ghana from 16th – 21st June, 2019. Open to doctoral students from any of the N8 Universities (Durham, Lancaster, Leeds, Liverpool, Manchester, Newcastle, Sheffield and York) working in any aspect of agrif-food, applications are now open.

The course will focus on enhancing participant’s food system knowledge plus interactive activities to develop skills in communicating complexity. You will learn about the challenges of food systems, tools and approached to analyse food systems, and how change in food systems can be brought about.  Speakers will include John Ingram (Oxford- Environmental Change Institute), Bob Doherty (University of York), Jonathan Rushton (University of Liverpool), Daniel Bruce Sarpong (University of Ghana) and invited local Key Speakers.

 

What should participants expect?

We are looking for 10 motivated and enthusiastic agri-food PhD students from the N8 partner universities to travel to Ghana for the one-week training course.  All training costs for participants once in Ghana are covered (including accommodation, travel and meals). Selected students will be able to access travel grants from their respective institutions for UK ground travel and flights.

Application Process:

To apply, please complete an application form available HERE. You will be required to upload a 2-page CV. Please send your documents to your university contact on the form.  Candidates will be selected on merit and to optimise the range of N8 universities and disciplines represented.

Each successful applicant should then apply to their universities for funding to cover international flights and UK costs.
