The N8 Industry Innovation Forum (N8 IIF) – which connects businesses with research intensive universities and other key organisations and networks involved in innovation – has been highlighted this month in a feature published by the National Centre for Universities and Business (NCUB), a membership organisation that promotes, develops and supports university-business collaboration across the UK.
The N8 IIF is an initiative between the N8 Research Partnership, the Higher Education Funding Council for England (HEFCE) and Innovate UK and has run a number of events focusing on specific industrially-relevant opportunity areas, including Advanced Materials, Healthy Ageing, Industrial Biotechnology and Food Security and Technology.
The article, written by N8 IIF Director Colin Reid, examines the role of the forum in creating new partnerships and collaborations and looks at how it has created “real traction” between industry and academia, successfully bringing often disparate academic groups together to work with industry in key areas.
These successes, Reid points out, have helped to build strength, trust and depth of understanding across the N8 Research Partnership.
