Collaboration, Reinvention And Growth In The Arts And Humanities

Reports and presentations from each of the four workshops held as part of the ‘New Thinking from the North’ project exploring the impact of arts and humanities are now available to view on the University of Liverpool website.

‘New Thinking from the North’ is a pilot study to identify ways in which academics, practitioners in the arts and humanities and local authorities can work in partnership to stimulate reinvention and influence economic growth across the North of England. The N8 Research Partnership was awarded funding for the project from the Arts and Humanities Research Council (AHRC) last year.

The initial phase of the project involved the N8 universities holding a series of themed workshops addressing  Heritage, Digital, Sustainability and Imagination – through which they can together listen to current and historical models of community innovation, identify new research challenges, and explore areas of future development.

The outcomes from the research will be presented as a policy report for local authorities and is expected to be completed later this year.
