World-class collaborative research: for industry, the economy and society

The N8 Research Partnership is a collaboration of the eight most research intensive universities in the North of England: Durham, Lancaster, Leeds, Liverpool, Manchester, Newcastle, Sheffield and York.

 

Working with industry, N8 aims to maximise the impact of this research base by indentifying and coordinating powerful research collaborations across the North of England and beyond.

Ageing and Health

The N8 Research Centre in Ageing and Health is focused on the application of new technologies in Assisted Living and Wellbeing.

Energy

The N8 Energy Research Centre is focused on addressing specific issues related to energy and energy industries in the North of England, concentrated on three themes - Carbon Capture and Storage, Smart Grids and Offshore Wind.

Molecular Engineering

Molecular Engineering represents a paradigm shift for the industrial design process - designing new materials from the molecular level, which are both driven by market needs and informed by societal challenges.

Regenerative Medicine

Regenerative medicine is an emerging, multidisciplinary sector to develop innovative therapies to repair or replace organs and tissues impaired by disease or injury.

The N8 water group brings together an unprecedented network of expertise to address long-term challenges and opportunities facing the water environment
